"Language exerts hidden power, like a moon on the tides."

Our Vision

is to accelerate the process of English language acquisition, equipping students with the skills and competency of native speakers.

Our Mission

is to provide a district-wide, systematic, coherent English language development program that moves students to reclassification in three years.

Areas of Emphasis

We believe that teaching English requires expert language teachers. As a district we are committed to refine our practices, provide focused time on English language development, and offer appropriate training to our staff to meet the needs of our English Learners. We believe that English learners, like other children, can quickly learn and master the requirements of native fluency if the instructional program is systematic and specific.  Our redesigned program of instruction for English learners in grades K-12 has an emphasis in the following areas:

1. Accelerate the rate of English language learning

2. Teach English as a foreign language

3. Establish key  instructional principles to guide the program

4. Prioritize ELD instruction and expand its time allotment

5. Bring uniformity and coherence to instructional practices

6. Maximize access to core academic subjects
