Wednesday Minimum Days
Every Wednesday will be a MINIMUM DAY this year. Our school day begins at 7:50 and the students will be dismissed each Wednesday at 1:15 p.m.
Scholastic Book Orders
September Book Orders are due back to school by: September 22nd! Don't forget - you can order your Scholastic books on-line after you have seet up your account.
***For EVERY on-line order placed - our class will earn a FREE book!!
Sign-up at www.scholastic.com/bookclubs. On the parent page, click the "Don't have a User name and Password?" link, then register for your own username and password. When prompted, enter the one-time Class Activation Code (GRDDK). This code ensures that your order is sent to us.
2. Select your books and pay using your credit card by the order deadline date and your child's books will be delivered directly to our classroom.
First Day Packets
Your child will be bringing home their "first day packet" filled with important information that will be kept in the office. Please fill out all of the forms completely and return the packet to school by Friday, September 10th! Thank you!
Welcome to Room 508
Please meet in our classroom at 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday for our first day of school. We encourage families to escort their student into the classroom. We look forward to meeting all of our new families and students as we kick off our 1st grade year.

Back to School Night
Brookhaven's Back to School Night is Thursday, September 23rd. The PTA will begin at 6:00pm and the classrooms will open at 7:00 pm
Important Brookhaven Times
What important times do I need to know?
Each morning your child should be in line BY 7:45 a.m. The front gates are locked AT 7:50 a.m. and if your child arrives AFTER the gates are closed, they will need to go through the office to pick up a pass to be admitted to class.
Scheduled Breaks:
Each day we have recess from 10:05 - 10:25 and our scheduled lunch time is 11:55 - 12:40.
Your child should know how they are going home each day. Every afternoon the gates will open at 2:15, please meet your child AT the lunch tables. If your child is doing VALET, they should report to the MPR immediately and wait quietly for their name to be called.
FURLOUGH DAYS
Due to the state budget cuts -PYLUSD will have 4 non-student days. November 22, November 23, November 24, and May 27.
Box Tops for Education
Our school earns 10 cents for each box top collected. You can find the Box Tops on many food items that you currently buy. Gather all of your Box Tops and send them to school. Be on the look out and continue clipping!!
Snacks
Please send a NUTRITIOUS snack with your child each day. Even if they are purchasing lunch at school, they still need a healthy snack to help them get through the morning. Our recess break is from 10:05 to 10:25.
Water Bottles
The students are encouraged to bring water bottles to school. Unfortunately, we do not have a drinking fountain in our classroom. PLEASE make sure their water bottles have a sport pop-top to prevent spilling on desks and classwork.
