Mrs. McLean's Social Studies Class

I am teaching 7th and 8th Grade Social Studies this year.

The 7th grade program covers world history from the fall of Rome 476 AD through the French Revolution 1789. Students will be discovering the Middle Ages in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. That's a lot of history! Plus we will be participating in the Nixon Library Geography Contest, so the students will be learning a lot of geographical place names.

8th grade history begins with a quick review of exploration and colonial history. We will cover from the American Revolution to Reconstruction (after the Civil War) before the CSTs in late April or early May. In May and June we will extend our study to the early 1900's as per the California State Standards. Also all 8th graders in my class are required to know the 50 states with 100% accuracy by Oct. 18.

7th and 8th grade students will be learning how to read and analyze documents throughout the year, giving them experience with the new National Common Core Standards practices.

The main purpose of this website is to inform students and parents of the daily assignments and tests for my class. You will see what my students see on the weekly a basis on the assignment board.
