Mrs. Finn - Fourth Grade Teacher

Welcome! I am happy to have your child in my class this year. Here is a little bit of information as to what your child will learn in the fourth grade, according to the California standards:
L.A.-Weekly stories and two chapter literature books (By The Great Horn Spoon, and Island of the Blue Dolphins).
Writing-Multiple paragraphs using one of the four genres: responding to literature, summary, personal narrative, and report writing.
Math-algebra, multiplying with greater numbers, long division with remainders, rounding greater numbers, fractions, decimals, geometry, and probability.
Social Studies-California history, the Westward Movement, Gold Rush, and Ca. Missions.
Science-Solid Earth, Magnetism and Electricity, and Environments.

All students will have a book report or other projects assigned to them throughout the year. The Ca. Mission report will be assigned after the holidays.

Two field trips have been scheduled: Knott's Berry Farm, The Westward Movement, and Honda Center-Anaheim Ducks, learning how the game of hockey is related to science and math.
Your child should be doing homework Mon-Thurs (45 minutes, on average).
Be sure to check your child's planner book daily, so that you're child comes to school prepared the next day.

If you have any questions, you can email me, or reach me at (714)986-7150 x 42211.

Thank You,

Toni Finn
